Coronavirus (COVID-19)

Appointments

Well visits, particularly those visits with vaccines, are still very important and we recommend this continue with additional precautions.  The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) strongly supports the continuitation of well visits while pediatric offices make adjustments to ensure the safety of everyone.  At Einstein Pediatrics we are doing the following:

  1. Limiting office visits in the office to only well visits and problem visits that are clearly not related to COVID 19 like constipation or an injury.
  2. Screening all persons prior to coming into our office, both staff and visitors, for any active symptoms that might be caused by coronavirus and excluding their entrance.
  3. Taking additional precautions in the office including the wearing of face masks, additional vigorous cleanings of rooms and equipment, and reserving specific rooms for only well visits.
  4. Children with respiratory symptoms, fever, and other symptoms that might be attributable to coronavirus will only be seen outdoors during the afternoon by appointment.

Testing for Coronavirus

We are now offering COVID antigen testing after screening by a medical provider to ensure it is done at the right time and that it is the right test for the situation.  The quick antigen test is indicated for those with probable exposure as well as within 5 days of onset of symptoms.  Screening prior to activities like attending college should not be tested this way as the antigen test has a poor sensitivity under these conditions.

Telehealth/Telemedicine Visits

Families are invited to schedule problem visits as a remote virtual visit by telemedicine.   Televisits will allow you to have your child seen and assessed in real time at home using your laptop or on your phone, offering both convenience and minimizing the risk of spreading illness.

Telehealth well visits are now being covered by most major insurers.  We certainly prefer in person, but this is an alternative for families we embrace.

Ways to Communicate with your Medical Provider

  • TELEHEALTH VISITS including  for well and sick visits.
  • Our PATIENT PORTAL remains an option to ask questions of our providers, and should continue to be used for non urgent questions.
  • If asking for a CALL BACK from a provider, we do ask you keep these conversations relatively short (< 2-3 minutes).  If you need longer, please let our staff know and they can schedule you for an in person consult or a telehealth visit to ensure adequate time to discuss the issues on your mind.
